250 years ago, the residents of Coxsackie signed a document declaring their allegiance to the Continental Congress following the shocking events at Lexington and Concord. Bearing the signatures of 225 freeholders, this document represented Coxsackie's entrance into the American Revolution, committing the district and those living here to the cause of American liberty. This year, on May 17th, join the Greene County Historical Society in celebrating this remarkable anniversary on the grounds of the Bronck Museum in Coxsackie, New York. This year's Association Day celebrates the 250th of the signing of Coxsackie's "Declaration of Independence" in true revolutionary fashion featuring performances by Village Volunteers Fife & Drum Corps, reenactments by costumed interpreters, and a lecture by historians Ted Hilscher, Jim Planck, and Jon Palmer on the nature and substance of this momentous document. Attendees will also have the opportunity to enjoy wandering the interiors of the Bronck House, which will be open freely to visitors during the afternoon. Association Day 2025 runs from 1PM to 4PM on May 17, at 90 County Route 42, Coxsackie, NY 12051.

June 7

45th Annual Tour of Homes, 10 am to 4 pm. This year’s tour focuses on the Village of Athens. Tour sites span a full range of the settlement. Take a trip through time while you visit homes built in the 18th and 19th centuries.

Many sites are new to the tour, while some have been featured in the past. On this day only, through the graciousness of owners who have painstakingly restored and maintained their historic homes and the hard work of the Society’s volunteers, tour goers are invited inside to enjoy the homes.

Tour headquarters will be at the Zion Lutheran Church, 102 North Washington Street (Route 385), Athens.  At headquarters, tour tickets as well as those ordered in advance can be picked up.  Box lunches will also be available for purchase while they last. Off street parking is available in the church parking lot on Washington Street. The tour will be held rain or shine. Tickets are $30 the day of the tour and $25 in advance. Participants will receive a brochure with information about the sites along with a marked route map.

To reserve advance sale tickets, send a check payable to GCHS to: Greene County Historical Society, P.O. Box 44, Coxsackie, NY 12051. Advance sale ticket reservations must be received by June 2. The tickets will be available with your tour brochure on June 7th.

This is the Greene County Historical Society’s major fundraiser. Proceeds from the sale of tour tickets support the Society, the Bronck Museum and the Vedder Research Library.

For more information, call David Dorpfeld at (518) 817-8771 or Carol Serazio at (518) 731-9050 or visit www.gchistory.org.
